Is your website compliant?
Find out — with a plan for what to fix first.
AI-powered screening that finds the real issues, explains what they mean, and tells you what to fix first — delivered as a professional report at a fraction of specialist cost.
The compliance gap facing UK businesses
UK businesses face a growing tangle of digital regulations — GDPR, the European Accessibility Act, cookie consent requirements — each with real penalties for non-compliance. Most businesses fall into one of three traps.
Ignoring it
54% of UK SMEs aren't fully GDPR compliant. The ICO is actively pursuing smaller businesses, not just the big names. The European Accessibility Act became enforceable in June 2025, with fines up to €3M. Ignoring it doesn't make it go away.
Using free tools
Free scanning tools dump raw findings — error codes, technical descriptions, hundreds of line items with no context. They tell you what's wrong but not what it means, how serious it is, or what to fix first.
Paying a specialist
A specialist accessibility audit costs £2,500–£5,000+. A GDPR audit runs £3,000–£8,000+. Turnaround: 2–4 weeks. For most SMEs, that's more than they need at this stage.
Bartram Web sits in the middle: professional compliance screening, priced for real businesses, delivered in days not weeks.

How it works
We scan your website
Professional scanning tools check your site for GDPR compliance, accessibility issues, cookie problems, and content health across multiple pages.
AI analyses the findings
Our AI interprets every finding in UK regulatory context — what it means for your business, how serious it is, and what the fix looks like. A human reviews every report before delivery.
You get a clear report
A professional PDF with your compliance score, plain-English explanations, and a prioritised action plan. Hand it to your developer, share it with your board, or use it to plan your next steps.
Why not just use a free tool?
Free tools serve a purpose. But there's a meaningful difference between a data dump and a professional screening.
| Free tools | Bartram Web | Specialist audit | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | £0 | £297 – £597 | £2,500 – £5,000+ |
| Speed | Instant | Same day | 2 – 4 weeks |
| Interpretation | Raw findings | AI-powered with UK legal context + human QA | Expert human analysis |
| Actionability | Low — data dump | High — prioritised action plan | Very high — bespoke recommendations |
| Coverage | Single page, surface-level | Multi-page, deep (GDPR + accessibility + cookies + content) | Comprehensive including manual testing |
| Human review | None | Every report quality-checked | Full expert review |
Our sweet spot: you know you need to act, but you're not ready for a £5,000 audit. We're the right first step.
What we check — and what we don't
Transparency is a core principle. We tell you exactly what our screening covers so you can make an informed decision.
What's included
- GDPR/UK GDPR compliance indicators — privacy policy review, cookie consent mechanisms, tracking scripts, data collection practices
- Web accessibility — automated WCAG 2.2 Level AA scan, semantic HTML, heading hierarchy, keyboard accessibility
- Cookie and tracker compliance — third-party scripts, consent mechanisms, undisclosed trackers
- Content health (Standard and Comprehensive tiers) — broken links, meta descriptions, image alt text, page performance
What's not included
- Legal advice or legal opinions
- Manual accessibility testing with assistive devices
- Backend server security assessment
- Login-protected areas of your website
- Sector-specific regulatory requirements (FCA, CQC, etc.)
- Remediation implementation — we tell you what to fix, not fix it for you
We use automated scanning tools (axe-core, Lighthouse, custom scripts) and AI analysis (Claude API), with every report quality-checked by a human before delivery. Full methodology is disclosed in every report.
A real person behind the service
I'm Robert, the founder of Bartram. I built this service because I kept seeing the same problem: small businesses struggling with a growing pile of digital regulations, stuck between free tools that dump raw data and expensive consultants who charge thousands.
Bartram sits in the middle — professional compliance screening, powered by AI, quality-checked by a human, and priced for real businesses.
Every report that leaves Bartram is reviewed by me before it reaches you. If something doesn't meet the standard, it doesn't ship.

Frequently asked questions
What exactly is a compliance screening?
A compliance screening is a professional analysis of your publicly accessible website against the most common compliance requirements affecting UK businesses: GDPR/UK GDPR, web accessibility (WCAG 2.2 Level AA / European Accessibility Act), cookie consent obligations, and content health. We use automated scanning tools and AI-powered interpretation, followed by human quality review. The result is a clear PDF report with a compliance score, findings organised by risk level, plain-English explanations, and a prioritised remediation roadmap. A screening is not a legal audit or certified compliance assessment — it's a systematic diagnostic that tells you where you stand and what to fix first.
Why not just use a free accessibility or GDPR checker?
Free tools check one thing in isolation — and usually only the surface layer. They flag obvious issues but miss the context that makes findings actually useful. A Bartram screening is different in three ways. First, scope: we check GDPR, accessibility, cookies, and content health together in one report — because compliance problems rarely come alone. Second, interpretation: our AI analysis explains what each finding means for your business, not just that a technical rule was violated. Third, quality: every report goes through human review before delivery, so you get findings you can act on, not a raw list of technical errors. Free tools are useful for a quick sanity check. If you need to understand where you actually stand — and what to do about it — that requires more than a browser extension.
Can I trust an AI-generated compliance report?
We're transparent about how we use AI — it's disclosed in every report and in our Terms of Service. AI analysis is a tool, not the final word. Here's how it works: our scanning tools collect raw compliance data (accessibility violations, tracking scripts, policy content, technical indicators). The AI interprets that data, prioritises findings, and drafts the remediation guidance. A human — Robert — then reviews every report before it goes out. AI analysis has limitations. It can produce false positives or miss context-specific nuances. That's why the human review step exists. You're not getting a fully automated output — you're getting AI-accelerated analysis with professional oversight. We use the word "screening" deliberately. It's a diagnostic, not an audit. It tells you where to look and what to prioritise. Complex or regulated situations still benefit from specialist advice.
Will the screening make us compliant?
No — and any service that promises otherwise is overstating what they can do. Compliance is a state your organisation achieves by implementing changes, maintaining policies, and keeping up with regulatory developments. A screening tells you what needs fixing — it doesn't fix it for you. What the screening does: it identifies the specific issues on your website, explains what they mean, and gives you a clear roadmap for remediation. What you do with that information is up to you and your team (or your developers, your legal advisers, or both). Think of it like an MOT for your website. The mechanic tells you what's failing and what needs attention. You still have to do the work.
Does the screening cover cookie banners?
Yes, cookie compliance is included in all tiers. We check for the presence of a consent mechanism, whether it appears to distinguish between essential and non-essential cookies, and whether any tracking scripts are loading before consent is given. We detect what's present on your public pages — we don't functionally test whether your consent mechanism correctly blocks trackers (that requires more invasive testing). So we can tell you if you have a banner, whether it looks compliant at a surface level, and flag any obvious problems like Google Analytics loading unconditionally. If your cookie setup needs detailed technical validation, we'd recommend complementing the screening with a specialist cookie audit.
How long does it take to get my report?
Same-day delivery is available on all tiers. After you purchase, we'll confirm the URL and any specific pages to prioritise (for Standard and Comprehensive tiers). If we don't hear back within 5 business days, we'll proceed based on your website URL. Turnaround times are targets, not guarantees. Unusually complex sites or high demand periods can occasionally cause delays — we'll let you know if that happens.
